Lip American Launch!

"The 141 year old French watch brand LIP is reintroducing some of the most important wristwatches - a series from the early 1970s that remains as visionary today as when first unveiled almost four decades ago. These timepieces were created from a melting pot of Pan European industrial, architectural, interior and graphic designers, all given carte blanche by Lip to create some of the most original watches ever produced.

Of the seven original designers between 1969 and 1976, Roger Tallon has made the most lasting impact. A true renaissance man of the mid-century. Tallon's contributions to the Modern era include the Teleavia, the earliest portable television, the world's first Helicoid staircase (part of the Museum of Modern Art collection), and the ultra modern French high speed TGV trains. His asymmetric Mach 2000 series has since become an icon for LIP with their unmistakable primary colored spherical pushers and crowns.

The legacy of LIP evolves today in the hands of talented new designers like Prisca Briquet who are writing the next chapter of watch design in horological history".

Sony XEL-1

Sony's OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV, the XEL-1, is truly the next big thing in television technology and one of the worlds first OLED screen on the market.The XEL-1 is an 11 inch display that is only 3mm thick. The measurements of the XEL-1 are 287×253×140mm. Sony has put the ultra-thin display on a pedestal with a flexible arm. At 11 inch the Sony XEL-1 is a nice stylish desk accessory.

Vegetal Chair

I really like the design of this chair, it has an element of fun and comfort in the design, it remings me of brambles in a wood covering the floor. Shapes from the nature have inspired Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec's new Vegetal chair. Its plant-like structure made of polyamide dyed throughout goes to the limits of the technically feasible it is available in six colours. The chair can be stacked and is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Scheduled to be available as from 2009. Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and manufactured by Vitra.

Lipla Double Bed

Lipla is a queen sized double bed, I really like this bed, it reminds me a little of Japanese furniture with a bit of colour injected into it. It is available in loads of different colour and material combinations but I think this particular one is the best. Designed by Jean-Marie Massaud and manufactured by Porro, I think it costs around £2500!

Oakley Frogskins

Originally brought out in the 80's they have just been re-released, using the orginal tooling they have come up with some interesting colour combinations. I have just bought a pair of the white ones above, very nice! They have mostly all sold out now and are in very limited numbers worldwide. In my opinion they are one of the best pairs of sunglasses out there, they are very light, comfortable and very cool.

Cardboy!

Cardboy is a cardboard flatpacked character that you unfold and turn inside out to create the little guy. I know they are pretty pointless but I really want one to sit on my desk.

Norelco Shaver

Final year Industrial Design Student Keith Coponi at The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale has designed this angular stealthy Norelco shaver. Reminds me of the Nokia Prism (7500) Phone, one of my favourites.
