Paper Flat Speakers

Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute is talking up its thin tweeters, called Flexpeaker. The initial goal is for 8.5-inch by 11-inch sheets that cost about 15pounds, but the hope is to produce whole rolls of the stuff in the not too distant future, which will then be liberally applied to the exteriors of movie theaters, the interiors of cars, and the sides of the thinnest of thin-panel TVs.

Ciclotte Exercise Bike

This is the Ciclotte concept that was just exhibited in Milan. It's almost entirely made of carbon fiber, designed by Luca Schieppati. I really like the exercise bike but the road going one just looks a bit awkward, like he has just stuck the small wheel on at the last second.

NES Mouse

This is only a foam model based on the Nintendo Entertainment System control pad. I'm not sure how useable it would be but a cool concept.

Um Tote Bag

I really like this womens handbag, there are a couple of different variations available. They are eco-friendly handbags made out of 2 layers of factory excess industrial wool felt that have a zipper sewn around the edges. When open, the piece lays completely flat. When zipped, the piece turns into an organic 3-dimensional form. Felt is grey and zipper tape comes in green, orange, blue, pink, and grey. Designed by Josh Jakus

New Medical Furniture

The UK's Design Council recently commissioned series of medical equipment concepts, using the design itself to reduce the spread of germs--for example, by reducing a commode from 30-something parts to 11, making it much easier to disassemble and sanitise.

Slap Ruler!

Remember slap bracelets? Aaron tang has come up with this, a metal rule that doubles as a wrist band, ideal for engineers or designers. I have a couple of niggles with this design, from what I remember of the slap bracelets they were made out of a curved piece of metal but I can't remember what they look like when rolled up, if these really work and were available to buy I would definately buy one!

Folding Staircase

These stairs look cool, i'm not sure how they work but the idea is really good. Designed by Aaron Tang he says "an element of a wall that allows passageway to another environment when opened and restricts passageway when closed." Very cool.
